a. raymond johnson is a writer, karaoke aficionado, and native southerner who lived in Chicago for 17+ years before moving to the mountains of western North Carolina. with his environmental science degree from Northwestern University, he has worked extensively in bookstores and law firms before becoming a freelance editor, writer, producer, and shiatsuist. he received his MFA in fiction from Antioch University in Los Angeles and has since been awarded writing residencies at Ragdale and Millay Colony for his novels-in-progress. he has blogged since 2000 and frequently hangs out on twitter. @raymondj has contributed movie reviews and Dancing with the Stars recaps to Out Magazine’s Popnography and is the Culture Editor of your mom’s favorite pop culture blog, I Fry Mine In Butter. his short story “Tammy Faye” appears in The Collection (Topside Press, 2012) which won a Lambda Literary Award.
